Many people think that reflexology is just a pleasant foot massage that helps you relax and that is true, as far as it goes.
I’m a professional reflexologist and I believe that there’s far more to it than that. In fact I know many therapists who say that reflexology is a theory and a therapy.
The theory is that the feet have 7000 nerve endings that directly affect all the major parts of the body. The therapy seeks to use this connection to balance body systems and to help the body maintain its health and well-being.
It would be very difficult to prove that reflexology works and I would not attempt to do so.
I can however tell you about Doctor S of West Sussex who sought me out because he needed to de-stress. In the course of his reflexology sessions I found some abnormal reflexes and I told him which body systems were involved. He spoke to his doctor about this and to cut a long story short, a tumor was found in the very area I had identified. My client still says that I found his tumor. I say that I was merely aware of a problem in that part of his body, and others effected the cure.
Anyway, the good thing is that after successful surgery, he is still with us.
There is an obvious rider to this. Any medical problem should always be referred to your doctor in the first instance, for proper medical diagnosis and possible treatment.
